Collinstown Gathering Site.

Exciting news! Seed Scholars is in the process of opening a site in Collinstown, Co. Westmeath where we can gather regularly for nature connection experiences.

The land is home to forest, field, farm, garden, fairy forts and river.

Badger, hedgehog, pine marten, fox, and hare seek shelter in its many burrows and hedges. Blue, coal and great tits, wood pigeons, starlings, green and bullfinches, sparrows, wrens, wagtails, long eared and barn owls, bats, buzzards, woodpeckers and visiting swallows nestle into the cracks in trees and buildings.

A rich diversity of insects and minibeasts roam just above and beneath the dark soil.

Donkeys, Droimeann cows, goats, pigs, bees, chickens and geese greet each day in chorus. Old growth, mature woodland of canopy oak and Scots pine, understory of elder, birch, willow, alder, hawthorn, hazel, and more weaves a tapestry of branches above and a robust root network below, as snowdrops, crocuses, dandelions, bluebells, cowslip, wild cow parsnip and more arise with the changing seasons.

The orchard swells with apples, plums, cherries and pears.

As summer sinks into Autumn, the raspberries, blackberries, currants, gooseberries and blueberries along with them. This is a place that moves with the ebbs and flows of each year, its shape, smells and textures holding all who pass through and communicating the passage of time.

Here in this place we hope to invite you in the very near future - to explore, investigate, rest, grow, nourish, eat, digest, learn, build community, and share time together.

We hope to host local schools, teacher trainings, after school programmes, community groups, and beyond. We can’t wait to write a new chapter of stories here with you!
